07 — Pricing
A focused project.
Published because a price you have to ask for costs both of us time. You get the exact figure in writing before anything starts.
What sits at each end.
Where a project lands comes down to two things: how many pages it needs, and how much of the content already exists.
- Nearer $500 A smaller page count, content largely written already, one straightforward enquiry form, no pricing or legal pages to structure.
- Nearer $700 More pages, a quote or booking flow with real logic behind it, pricing and legal pages, or content that has to be written from rough notes.
- Bigger than that If what you need is genuinely bigger than a focused project, I will say so rather than stretch the range to fit it.
What the price covers.
- Positioning and page structure What the site says, in what order.
- A design system Type, colour, spacing and components, set once and used consistently.
- The build Static HTML, hand-written CSS, a small amount of vanilla JavaScript. No npm dependencies.
- A working enquiry form Validated on the server, with spam handling and a fallback if the endpoint is ever down.
- The essentials Meta titles and descriptions, a sitemap, a robots file, favicons, a 404 page, and legal pages where the site collects details.
- Deployment Live on Netlify or Vercel.
- A review round You read it on a live link and mark up what is wrong. I fix it.
What costs extra
- Third-party costs Domain registration and any paid service the site depends on. Bought in your own name wherever possible, so you keep control of them.
- Work outside the agreed scope Talked about and quoted before anything changes on the invoice, never added quietly.
- Ongoing improvement Separate and optional. It only starts once the site is live.
How it works in practice.
- 01
You send a brief
What the business does, what the site needs to do, and roughly when you want it live.
- 02
You get a written quote
The page list, what gets built, what is out of scope, the figure, and a schedule. No call required to find out the number.
- 03
The scope is fixed before work starts
If it changes later, we talk about it first.
- 04
You own it
On final payment the site and the delivered files are yours. Invoicing runs through the console I built for my own operation, tracked against the Australian financial year from 1 July.
What I will not do: price a job on a guess about what your business can afford. The range moves with scope, not with how big you look.
Get the figure in writing.
Send a short brief and I will come back with a scope, a price inside the published range, and a schedule — or an honest no if it is not a job for me.
