ALEX Website
Automations

08 — About

One person, start to finish.

Alex Website Automations is one person. I do the positioning, the page structure, the writing, the design and the build.

When you send an enquiry, I read it. When you ask a question halfway through, I answer it. Nothing gets passed to an account manager and then handed down to a junior, because there is no account manager and no junior.

01

Sole operator. You deal with the person who builds it.

01 Why it works

A sole operator has fewer places to lose things.

A small business does not need a project team. It needs the site finished, the enquiry form working, and someone who answers when something breaks.

  • The person who scopes the job builds it Nothing is lost in the handover, because there is no handover.
  • One price, one contact You are not paying for an account management layer that sits between you and the work.
  • Decisions happen in a message Not in a meeting with four people who each need briefing first.
  • Scope stays honest I only quote work I can actually do, because I am the one who has to do it.

It also has a limit, and I would rather name it than pretend otherwise. I take on a small number of projects at a time. If I cannot start when you need to start, you will hear that at the enquiry stage, not three weeks in.

02 What I believe

A website has three jobs, and most sites do one.

  1. 01

    Explain what the business does

In the words a customer would actually use, not the words the industry uses internally.

  2. 02

    Earn the next conversation

Whether that is a call, a quote request or a booking.

  3. 03

Make the follow-up easier to run

Once the enquiry lands. This is the one most sites ignore entirely.

An enquiry form that tips everything into one inbox is not a system. If you are re-typing an address into a quote, or losing track of who has been answered, the site is not finished.

03

What I take on, and what I turn down.

Saying no to the wrong work is most of what keeps a one-person studio honest. Here is the line, so you can work out which side you are on before you write to me.

  • Yes Websites for small and B2B businesses that need to explain what they do and bring in enquiries.
  • Yes Enquiry forms, routing, handoffs, quote flows and notifications, wired so the follow-up is easier to run than it was before.
  • Yes Ongoing improvement. Updates and iteration, keeping the site current as the business changes.
  • No Work outside design, build and automation. I do not run ad campaigns, manage social accounts, or write ongoing SEO content.

Plain HTML, and nothing that rots

Hand-written HTML and CSS, with a small amount of vanilla JavaScript where something genuinely has to move. No npm packages. No framework to keep up to date. No build tool that stops working in two years because a dependency was abandoned.

The head, header and footer are stamped into every page by a short Python script, so they cannot drift out of sync as pages get added. Fonts are self-hosted, so no request leaves the site to fetch them.

03 Next step

Send a few lines and I will read them.

Tell me what the business does and what you want the site to do. Include the current site if there is one, and anything that is already annoying you about it. I will come back with a scope and a price, or an honest note that it is not a job for me.
